William Helping out With Jax was either smooth sailing or it would be a total catastrophe. My mind was still on when Jax threw up in the car bringing him home that first day. I thought for sure he’d throw up on one of us. But there is a dog wash next to the vet. The worse case, right? 😂
Mother Instincts Don’t Fail Me Now
Mother instinct took over and I wrapped him in a blanket so he felt safe. The plan was to put him on my lap while I drove but William put his hands out like he wanted to take him. I said, “Are you sure?” “You gotta let him know he is safe” His response was quick, “yes”.
Quickly, I went to the driver’s side of the car, I thought for a minute this could be a good lesson to see if hes understood what I’d been telling him about his trauma. It makes sense so I was very tuned in to how William handled things. When the car started to move Jax got fidgety. William said, “It’s okay Jax Saliva Moats, don’t be scared”. I began to pet Jax’s head to model what William should do, and of course, he followed.
Jax settled till we were a few blocks from Tractor Supply and Jax started to shake. “Then William said, “Don’t be scared Jax Saliva Moats, Williams got you.” My heart just melted he understood what I’d been telling him all along. Again, I petted Jax’s head William followed.
We got to the vet, and Jax was excellent with the dr. But the nurse said there was going on with him, good news is the medication will help him to be more like himself in no time.
William wanted to hold him on the way home. Both seemed more relaxed, and when we got to the driveway I could tell Jax was a little tired. But I caught them looking at each other and the smile Jax gave was priceless. I was able to get it with my camera. (Hand to the heart kind of pic) Beautiful isn’t it.
