Williams recent trip has been to the gym. He misses gym time at school so I signed him up with me. My thought was this would be a good to talk about the good times he had, as well as geetting some excercise in. When I offered to take him he seem eager to go. So we got breakfast and he watched his favorite movie (for the hundredth time lol) “Tom and Jerry the Nutcracker“. I talked him through what would happen for the day and we headed out. I saw alot more engaged than before. He made the decisions on what equipment he wanted to go on, so I let him lead the way.
When we were done, we went next door and I let him pick lunch at the grocery store the cashier talks to him and asks how his workout went. Answers very appropriately. The cashier and I exchange smiles. I think shes going to be another I can add to the list of people where I am invisible and he is noticed. I want it that way so he can feel the sense of self worth in the community.
We got home and had some lunch….yeah it was pizza. I did say he could pick anything, I guess thats my bad LOL.
I got his cue and he said,”Arts and crafts?” I asked him what he wanted to do. And he said, “paint.” So he painted some snowmen, I purposely left out a paintbrush to see if he would ask for it and he did. then we had a short manding session with making a finger puppet. I thought that turned out real cute. Lastly he added some stickers on a jar for me that I have been trying to do the last couple weeks now. I can see a sense of accomplishment on his face. That was important for me to see. By the time it was all said and done he was out for a nap. ♥
